Commenticating: The act of leaving comments on blogs
Is there a right and a wrong way to do this? You bet your ass there is! If you didn’t already know it, commenting on someone elses blog is an awesome way to drive traffic to your blog or webpage.
A couple of quick tips will help immensely though.
- First, try to comment on different blogs at least ten times a day. And, this should go without saying but, make sure you leave intelligent comments. Nobodys going to click through to your website just because you posted, ‘That’s cool.’
- Make sure the blogs your commenting on are huge blogs that have a massive following such as www.entrepreneurs-journey.com, copyblogger.com, or Problogger.net
- It really, really, really, helps if your one of the first three to comment on these big name blogs because it’s not unusual for them to get 200, 500, even over 800 comments on just one post. All those people, plus the thousands that didn’t comment, will see your comment and your blog, but only if you do it right.
- Last, but not least, the way you get your name in lights! This little trick is so powerful but I hardly ever see anyone taking advantage of it and it’s such a no-brainer!

- In most comment boxes your name is requested along with your email and name of your website then there’s room for your comment below that such as the one above. The comment box then magically links your website with your name and makes it clickable. Here’s the rub: STOP using your first name! Use your websites name. Tell me which looks more inviting and more authoritative to click on:
Iamare says… Blah, blah, blah… or Lucrative Niche Blogging says… Thank you for your hard investigative work…
Conduct your own experiment the next time you leave comments, use your first name on some, use your blogs url on others.
Just a side note reference your url, I would tend to leave off the whole http:// and the www and space your blog title as I did above. It gives it a much cleaner look that gets your blogs name out there without being overly spammy.
Please let us know how your commenticating progresses. We’d love to hear back from you. Thanks!
