With spring comes the promise of warmer weather and beautiful flowers… for most of the country. But Not For Florida.
Here in Florida, it’s already warm so the warmer, muggier air that spring brings signals the beginning of Hurricane Season. The only true way to out-smart a hurricane is to be prepared. It is something that is preached over and over again as June 1st (official start of Hurricane Season)quickly approaches.
Florida is not the only state affected by hurricanes as we all know too well. So this niche has to do with all Gulf Coast states and the states along the Atlantic seaboard as well. The niche is proactive and not reactive. So we’re not going in after a storm and taking everybody’s money then leaving with them with a bad taste in their mouths. We’re getting them prepared enough to weather a few hard days without utilities while keeping in mind that most people don’t have a lot of extra cash to spend on ‘what ifs’ or ‘maybes’.
For the majority of people affected by this niche, they know that it might just be a ‘maybe’ if you live in South Carolina, but those of us that live in Florida know that probability of not ‘if’ but ‘when’ a hurricane is going to hit is pretty high. Even without all the hype from TV and the Weather Channel.
So our niche is this: Hurricane Kits. What’s the one product that should be in every kit? Probably the old a/m, f/m radio w/ tv screen. Find one on Amazon, link to it, put a bunch of Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Katrina survival stories in it and there you go. This niche is not to scare people into buying your Hurricane Survival Kit, but you do want people to know that being prepared will make all the difference in the world, their world.
Don’t forget to add links to NOAA, and all the other Hurricane Tracking sites. Visit those sights as well and leave comments now about the upcoming season. It’s just like preparing for a holiday. By starting now and getting the word out, people will get prepared early and you stand to make a little profit as well.
