Take a look at this headline from Sarasota, Florida :
Violent Home Invasions May Be Connected
Click the link above for the whole story. My point here is that this is by far one of the most scariest and dangerous occurrences a homeowner can go through, albeit some ‘closings’ are pretty scary too, but… Now to get into this niche would be to get into home security. By providing products to people we would then be actually helping these people.
Now there are some do’s and don’ts when approaching this type of niche. First of all, I’m not one of the Baldwin’s and this isn’t ‘Scare Tactics’, ok? It’s alright to mention the failing economy and that crime is on the rise, but let’s steer clear of the, “WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!” mentality. To combat this, all we need to do is present reality. Believe me. Reality is plenty scary enough. So you have your story, such as the one above, and then you explain to them that they have a choice. They can either be a victim or they can be a survivor. To be a victim is to do nothing and hope it doesn’t happen to them. To be a survivor, you’ll need to have some tools. Offer a free ‘Home Defense’ manual, then link to several really good security products. I’m not talking about alarms either. Everybody and there brother has an alarm it’s just that people don’t use them. Instead, link to indoor/outdoor infrared web cams that are somewhat inexpensive but will still instill a sense of safety into the buyer. Offering just signs alone is another product that does well. One house has a sign that says Beware: Vicious Attack Dog on Premises the house two doors down has no signage and a black two door AMG parked in the drive. Which house do you think the robber or burgular is going to go to?
