Is This The Niche You’ve Been Waiting For?

tarpon fishing 001 1a Floridas Gearing Up For The Annual Tarpon RunHundreds of fisherman flock to the Florida like seagulls this time of year in hopes of catching the big one: Megalops atlanticus or Tarpon for short. This is a ‘game fish’ that people will travel from all over the world to catch. The ‘Silver King,’ as it’s respectfully called, is very majestic and very humbling if you’ve ever landed one.

Tarpon can be found all over the Gulf of Mexico and in the Atlantic as well. But an extra fun place to catch these baby’s is in Boca Grande, Florida. Boca Grande is the home to these giants, which can be seen jumping up to 10′ out of the water when hooked, and the whole town caters to the fisherman, especially in the months of April and May when the Tarpon begin their annual migration.

Professional fisherman Joseph Treacy, of Lyman, South Carolina told us he was coming down to Boca for the first time this year in hopes of landing one of these monsters. “The weather nice in South Carolina, but Florida in April just blows it away!” says Joe. “My daughter and her husband, along with our grand daughter, Mikiah, live in Sarasota. They don’t know it yet…” continues Joe, “…but what better time to come down for a visit then when the tarpon are running?”

While ‘Joe the Fisherman’ hopes for the monster catch, this niche could land us some monster cash. Now would be the time to throw up a site or blog that’s loaded with pertinent affiliate links. Anything from hotel rooms in Boca Grande to where the tarpon currently are (reference their migration). Thrown in would be content on baits, time to fish, tide charts, best place to get cheap fuel and good restaurants to dine in. Of course a smathering of Google Adsense wouldn’t hurt either. Think of it as preparing sales for a holiday such as Valentines Day only instead of chocolates you’re offering Penn reels and Rapala lures. Affiliates with Amazon, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Bass Pro Shops stand to make quite a bit as saltwater fishing items not be cheap!

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
